With the help of the author of Storming St Nazaire - James Dorrian- I have been given permission to post this excellent photo of Bill "Tiger" Watson of No.2 Commando who was wounded and captured during the raid on St Nazaire. James kindly contacted Bill on my behalf. Bill was a Lieutenant of 1 troop No.2 Cdo. His role was to lead the protection team to Lt. Philip Walton's demolition squad. They were on ML457. After capture and once his wounds had healed he was put to work in the medical wing of the POW camp and like John Roderick this was his grounding for a post war career as a Doctor. There is a little transcript of a question and answer session involving Bill Watson and Micky Burn after a programme was shown about the raid in 2002. It includes how he got his nickname " Tiger". Here is the link to it :

Also you may be interested to read the official reports on the raid in the London Gazettes which did not come out until after the war had ended. Here is the link to that. There are about 7 pages in all to read - just use the next page facility at the top of each page :

Hi Pete,

good report on the Channel 4 site. Ialso have another MC to my collection.

Harry.

Commandos never die, they go elsewhere and 're-group'!
