It is with sadness that I report the recent death of Stanley Birch at the age of 85.

Mr Birch was born in Northampton on November 3, 1923.

He joined the Northamptonshire Regiment then went on to complete commando training at Achnacarry.

He joined the No5 Cdo, where he was eventually promoted to Cpl.

May he Rest in Peace
