I am writing this as in the past I have been researching a Royal Marine Paul DiMarco whom I thought for a while was my grandfather. Since finding out he is not I would like to apologise to members of his family that I am deeply sorry to have refered to him as my grandfather and am sorry for any upset. I am finding this hard as I am now at a loss to who my family is and where I came from. Once again I am sorry,

Hi Catherine

Genuine mistakes happen and I am sure you are not alone in discovering upsetting information on family research. I can only speak personally but I would not have been upset if it had been my Grandfather in the circumstances you describe. I can only imagine your feeling of loss right now, but you have shown a strength of character reflected in the fact that you were able to write the above message here. Many would have just kept silent.
May I wish you well for the future.

Regards

Hi Catherine

As many of us who research our family tree,s will know it is very easy to follow a strong trail only to find it was wrong.
May I wish you luck in your research

Catherine,

I'm sorry to hear your news. Although you say you now have no leads to follow to trace your family, if there is anyway that we can help, please don't hesitate to ask.
